In a remarkable display of commitment to education and community development, Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo has inaugurated a cutting-edge student hostel that promises to transform learning opportunities in the region.

The new facility, located in Eika Adagu, Okehi Local Government Area, was executed by the Dr Abdullahi Mustapha Foundation and represents a significant investment in youth infrastructure. Governor Ododo emphasized during the ceremony that such initiatives are crucial for advancing education, strengthening community bonds, and promoting economic empowerment.

Alongside the hostel, the governor also inaugurated the Kahal Hall in Inoziomi and the DAM Civic Centre at Ebegogo, both situated in Adavi Local Government Area. Dr. Mustapha, Director-General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria, highlighted that the new hostel is meticulously designed to provide safe and conducive accommodation, particularly targeting students and young athletes.

The foundation went beyond infrastructure, staging a comprehensive community empowerment programme across Kogi Central. Residents received a diverse range of support materials, including bags of rice and beans, sewing machines, solar panels, streetlights, solar-powered televisions, writing materials, laptops, and specialized tools for artisans. Widows received start-up funds, while motorcycle riders and market women were provided essential food items.

Dr. Mustapha articulated the deeper vision behind these efforts, emphasizing that the initiative is about fostering hope, creating opportunities, and driving long-term development. The programme specifically targets economic inclusion, particularly among youths and small-scale entrepreneurs, by providing critical tools, skills, and financial support to build sustainable livelihoods.

The inauguration ceremony was a significant gathering, attended by traditional rulers, political leaders, and senior government officials. They collectively underscored the importance of collaboration between institutions and private philanthropy in driving sustainable community development and improving quality of life at the grassroots level.
