From high school hurdles to collegiate athletics, Bernadette Belzer has transformed her passion into precision, emerging as a rising star in track and field.

A Jamestown native, Belzer made the strategic decision to pursue track over hockey when entering the University of Mary, quickly establishing herself as a formidable athlete in both indoor and outdoor competitions. Her journey from state championship qualifier to conference-level performer demonstrates remarkable dedication and athletic versatility.

During her high school career at Jamestown High School, Belzer consistently qualified for the NDHSAA State Track and Field Championships in 2021, 2022, and 2023. Her senior year was particularly notable, where she placed 11th in the 100-meter hurdles and an impressive second in the 300-meter hurdles, showcasing her potential as an emerging track talent.

Transitioning to collegiate athletics represented a significant challenge for Belzer, who shifted from a seasonal high school training regimen to year-round collegiate preparation. Her commitment has yielded impressive results, including personal records in the 600-meter run (1:38.58), 200-meter dash (26.72 seconds), and 400-meter event (1:00.32).

Bernadette's contributions have been instrumental in the University of Mary women's track team's success, helping secure second-place finishes in both indoor and outdoor conference championships. Her primary events include the 400-meter hurdles during outdoor seasons and the 600-meter run indoors, demonstrating her remarkable range and adaptability as an athlete.
