In a remarkable display of legal diligence, the Department of Justice is undertaking an unprecedented document review that will involve nearly 400 lawyers working through the holiday season to process millions of files related to the late Jeffrey Epstein.

The massive undertaking involves reviewing 5.2 million pages of documents, with lawyers expected to examine up to 1,000 documents daily over three to five hours. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche emphasized the commitment, stating that teams are working "around the clock through the holidays, including Christmas and New Years" to ensure compliance with federal law.

A government document revealed that lawyers from multiple divisions, including the DOJ's Criminal Division, National Security Division, FBI, and Manhattan U.S. Attorney's office, are collaborating on this extensive project. The review is scheduled to continue until at least January 20, significantly later than the original December 19 deadline set by a bipartisan bill signed by former President Donald Trump.

To incentivize the intensive review process, volunteers are being offered time-off awards and telework options. Blanche has indicated that several hundred thousand additional documents will be released in the coming weeks, following an initial batch of thousands of records disclosed in December.

The document review has already sparked political tension, with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer accusing the administration of potential "cover-up" tactics. The DOJ maintains it is not redacting politicians' names and is fully complying with federal regulations, though Democrats have signaled potential legal action over perceived violations.
