In a proactive move to safeguard public health, the Jigawa State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (JSPHCDA) has conducted a comprehensive destruction of 5,520 cartons of expired noodles, demonstrating remarkable commitment to community wellness.

The controlled burning operation took place on Wednesday in Dutse, executed in close collaboration with the World Health Organisation (WHO), after discovering that the food items had exceeded their approved shelf life.

Mr. Yusuf Inuwa, the State Cold Chain Officer, explained that these noodles were originally supplied by WHO to support the National Immunisation Plus Days (NIPDs) campaign initially scheduled for November 26, 2025. However, a directive from the National Primary Health Care Development Agency postponed the immunisation exercise to December 2, creating an unexpected logistical challenge.

Recognizing the potential health risks, agency officials swiftly retrieved the noodles from all 27 local government areas where they had been pre-positioned for distribution during the campaign. The rapid response underscores the agency's commitment to preventing potential public health incidents.

The destruction process was meticulously planned to ensure environmental safety and compliance with health regulations. By transparently managing potentially hazardous expired food items, the JSPHCDA has set a commendable example of responsible public health management.
