Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem announced Monday that federal agents are conducting a comprehensive investigation into widespread fraudulent activities, focusing particularly on childcare and nutrition program abuse. The operation follows years of meticulous investigation into a $300 million scheme involving the nonprofit Feeding Our Future, which has already resulted in 57 criminal convictions.

The scale of the potential fraud is staggering: federal prosecutors suggest that potentially half of the $18 billion in federal funds supporting 14 Minnesota programs since 2018 may have been illegally obtained.
