Fans of the legendary British spy are in for a slightly longer wait, as IO Interactive announces a two-month delay for the highly anticipated video game 007 First Light.

The game, originally scheduled for release on 27 March, will now launch on 27 May 2026, marking the first James Bond video game since 2012's 007 Legends. Developer IO Interactive emphasized that the game is already 'fully playable from beginning to end' and the additional time will be used to 'further polish' the experience.

Starring Patrick Gibson from Dexter Original Sin, the game promises an innovative origin story following a 26-year-old James Bond's recruitment into MI6 and his journey to earning the coveted 00 status. The standalone narrative will diverge from established film and novel storylines, offering fans a fresh perspective on the iconic character.

Adding star power to the project, US singer Lenny Kravitz will portray the game's main villain, a detail revealed during the Game Awards in December 2025. Early gameplay trailers have drawn comparisons to IO Interactive's successful Hitman franchise, showcasing signature Bond gadgets and cinematic set pieces that fans have come to expect.
